Jobs & Economy
Creating Jobs and Growing our Economy As Mayor of St. Paul, Norm Coleman made it his number one priority to create quality jobs for hardworking Minnesotans. As your U.S. Senator, he’s again made it his top priority to create jobs, continue to grow the economy, and help more Minnesota families and small businesses achieve the American dream.
After his election in 2002, Senator Coleman got right down to business and worked to enact landmark tax cuts that encouraged businesses to grow, helped employment go up, and let more Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money.
To date, the pro-growth tax policies he supported have had an incredible effect, producing 44 straight months of job growth, more than 7.8 million new jobs since August, 2003 and today’s historically low unemployment rate of 4.5%.
As your U.S. Senator, Norm Coleman will fight to make permanent these tax cuts that have been so successful in helping our families and growing our economy.
Passing a Fiscally Responsible Budget
In the Democrats’ first budget since coming to power, they have proposed a record tax increase for the American people by failing to extend expiring tax cuts and advocating significant new spending.
Since his arrival in Washington, Senator Coleman has worked to help Minnesota taxpayers by supporting critical tax relief and fiscally responsible budgets. In an effort to protect Minnesota from high taxes and runaway spending Senator Coleman voted against the Democrats reckless tax and spend budget, which would result in an unacceptable tax burden on the average taxpayer.
