Coleman addresses slowing economy

When Minnesota families sit down at the kitchen table each night, I know many of them are worried about the health and direction of the economy. Whether you live in Mora or Minneapolis, the toll that rising unemployment, falling home prices and high gas prices are taking is real and troubling. As a father of two, rest assured my family and I face these same concerns every day; I understand them - and addressing the concerns working moms and dads are facing is my top concern as your senator.
And while there is no silver bullet to addressing the many challenges we face, there are some immediate steps we can take to help ease the economic pain and anxiety many Minnesotans are feeling.
Last week, I joined 80 of my colleagues in passing an economic stimulus package that provides tax rebates of up to $600 for individuals, including seniors and disabled veterans, targeted and temporary pro-growth business tax incentives that will encourage job growth and investment, and an increase in federal conforming loan limits to help ease the housing downturn. Additionally, the bill ensures that illegal immigrants do not receive rebates.
