Maybe Mike Ciresi was just too regular a guy for his party

Mike Ciresi is a tough guy, for a bantamweight, and not a bad guy, not a bad guy at all. I long ago stopped interviewing him, at least publicly, because I was always down by six runs before we started. Ciresi isn't accustomed to losing arguments, especially with the local press, whom he easily overpowers. But he can leave with a laugh; nothing personal.
Ciresi is a lifelong Minnesotan. He didn't go away and then return to establish residency in order to run for political office. He has engaged himself largely in works of sound public interest. And, unlike a lot of political aspirants, you might actually bump into him, at a store or in a restaurant or on a golf course.
Why doesn't his party go for Ciresi?
