Coleman Files for Reelection, Supporters and Polls Continue to Show Positive Momentum

Filing for the U.S. Senate Race in Minnesota officially ended at 5:00 yesterday, and we now know the full slate of candidates who will be seeking to challenge Senator Coleman in the general election this fall. The biggest development is that it appears Al Franken will face a credible primary challenge from local attorney and longtime DFL stalwart Priscilla Lord Faris.

As for Senator Coleman, he officially filed for reelection Monday with his wife, Laurie, and two children - and dozens of supporters - looking on. In fact, Norm's daughter Sarah officially registered to vote in this fall's election, giving the senator a one-vote head start on his opponents!

Senator Coleman's filing helped continue our positive momentum that began last week when we announced our campaign had outraised Al Franken in the 2nd Quarter, bringing in $2.35 million from supporters who are responding positively to the senator's positive vision for the future and his longstanding record of bringing people together to get things done.

This week, a new Survey USA/KSTP TV poll showed Senator Coleman with a double-digit lead over Al Franken. The poll showed Senator Coleman with significant leads among Republicans, women, independents and in every region of the state. And while we fully expect this to be a close race all the way until Election Day, it is clear that Minnesotans are continuing to respond positively to Senator Coleman's candidacy.
